Tomato prices in Maharashtra have crashed from Rs 200 per kilo to as low as Rs 3-5, causing growers to abandon their crops or destroy their produce. This drastic decrease in prices is due to a bumper yield, which caught the industry off-guard. Farmers are calling for a minimum support price for tomatoes to prevent market fluctuations.
